1st Birthday Themes for Your Bundle of Joy

by Sherry on September 17, 2012

Being a parent is a great privilege as not all people have been blessed with a child. Most of us take for granted the fact that we have a child while some couples are struggling with fertility issues. No matter how many hours we spend awake calming and lulling the wailing angel back to sleep, feeding him or her and even foregoing our social lives for a while, it is worth it.

When the bundle of joy gets to his or her first birthday, consider it all joy and be ready to celebrate that achievement. He or she made it to one year! And as any parent would do, we would throw a birthday party and most of us will even have 1st birthday themes in our heads in which we can shape the birthday party around.

Coming up with 1st birthday themes for your bundle of joy can be a daunting task, especially since the child will not tell you exactly what they want and it is more a party for the adults rather than the little ones as let’s face it, your one year old boy or girl will have no incline that it is a special day for them and there is a party going on.

I will try to give you several general ideas on 1st birthday themes and you can personalize them to your liking. One of the themes you can choose is a cartoon theme. There must be a cartoon that your baby loves watching and you can use it to inspire a theme.

1st Birthday Themes

You can dress up the birthday boy or birthday girl like one of the characters of the cartoon she likes and make invitations based on the scenery in which the cartoon takes place as well as the characters in the cartoon. You can name the food after the cartoon characters and so forth. Let your imagination guide you!

Another of the 1st birthday themes you can have is an art gallery theme. You will take framed pictures of your bundle of joy from when he or she was born to pictures highlighting the major milestones in his or her first year and set it up on display like you would a photo gallery.

You will also have your friends and family pose as art critics and having finger foods for both the kids and parents to enjoy. You can also invite the other parents to bring along their babies photos and you can make a scrap book with them and put it up on display. Make sure you take lots of pictures to add to your memory book!

You can think outside of the box to find 1st birthday themes. You can be inspired by the day your baby was born. You can pick up some significant things from that day and merge them to come up with a theme. As long as it makes sense to you, you can explain your outside of the box thinking to the others later.

If you do not want to conjure 1st birthday themes from the day your baby was born, then you can do a magic themed birthday party. After all, the day he or she was born was a magical day (forget the labor pains and the pushing!). You could have a clown, some magic tricks performed and face painting.

Let your surroundings and imagination inspire you into creating a beautiful party for your bundle of joy. Whatever you come up with, please let us know so that we can add them to the list of 1st birthday themes!
