When throwing a party for a toddler, you need to play games that are suitable for that age range so that it keeps their attention, they can understand what is happening and they have fun.
Traditional games like musical chairs are too advanced for them and it can be quite surprising what simple and inexpensive activities that you can do which will cause them loads of joy and giggles:
Buy a large hoop (or make a ring at home) and a few soft balls. Prop the ring up against a table or hang it from the ceiling then line the children up. Show them how to throw the ball through the hoop and then let them have a try. If they manage to get it through, reward them with a small prize and even if they do not, encourage them with positive praise, let them try again and help them get it through so that each child gets a prize by the end of the game.
These are always a party hit and toddlers find them fascinating. If you are holding the party outdoors, you can fill plastic containers or baking trays with about an inch of bubble soap and some large bubble wands so that they can blow their own bubbles. If you do not want to handle the mess or are indoors, allocate a helper like an older sibling to blow the bubbles and the tots will chase after them without even needing prompting.
This simple idea is another one that your little guests will love. Buy one or two inexpensive inflatable swimming pools and fill them with balls or sponges. The children will love jumping in, throwing the balls around or just sitting there looking at them.
Find several large cardboard boxes, turn them to their side and cut off the top and bottom flaps. Tape them together with strong tape to make tunnels which go around the room and decorate the outside so that it matches your theme. You can add windows so they can be reassured that they are not stuck and make offshoot tunnels by cutting off the side of one or two boxes to give them variety of which way to go and where they end up. If you have bigger boxes like fridge ones then older siblings and maybe even parents can go with them but whether they are alone or with someone, they will love crawling through your maze.
